Spam Blocker FAQ
What is SPAM?
Multiple copies of the same message, usually in arriving in advertising form, that is un-solicited and un-wanted by the recipients. The original term comes from the lunch meat that gained popularity last century.
Why is E-mail Spam bad?
It is estimated that E-Mail SPAM cost us $130 Billion in 2001 and cost is only going up. It does not cost the Spammer much to get huge exposure and that is why it is so prevalent today. Almost all of the cost is paid by the receiver in terms of time and resources. The integrity of the source is often questionable because they exploit the resource sharing nature of the Internet. Imagine what we could do with all that extra time and money!
What can I do about Spam?
Buy a good Spam filtering program and keep it tuned up. Spend the time to get it configured correctly. This is easy when you stop and think about all the time you waste dealing with Spam. Use PestPatrol to help reduce the Spyware cookies and Adware programs that feed the advertising engines.
What NOT to do!
Stoop to the level of a Spammer by fighting Spam with Spam or doing any other malicious act. They can't help it, but you can by setting a good example.
