Computing USA- Computer users need to be on their guard for a malicious Trojan horse spam campaign disguised as Microsoft's monthly security bulletin. IT security and control firm, Sophos, reported the messages were first discovered October 13, 2008.

In a recent issue of PC Magazine, a warning was included in a news article of an email which promises a free copy of Trend Micro's Virus Clean Tool. The email which contains an attached file has an "extra" - a threat identified as BKDR_POISON.GO which will allow a remote user to run commands on the infected machine. Moral of the story - beware of emails delivering software that you have not asked for or purchased.

PC Magazine - Dangerous malware e-mail making the rounds. An e-mail message with a provocative, socially-engineered fake news story titles in it subject line has been circulating in an attempt to spread a Trojan that will download additional malware onto a victim’s computer.
